Referees course 2021!

REFEREE COURSE APPLICATIONS for 2021 ARE NOW OPEN and close on 3 February!

Senior and Team Referees please refer to the MWFRA website – MWFRA 2021 Entry Courses – Manly Warringah Football Referees Association – for information on how to register for a referee course.

Junior Referees

Please read the following information carefully. All information can also be found at: MWFRA Junior Referee Courses – Manly Warringah Football Referees Association

Each year the Manly Warringah Football Referees Association (MWFRA) trains nearly 100 new junior referees in the Level 4 Referee Course. We provide all junior referees with training, mentoring and support throughout the season in order to produce confident, competent referees for MWFA competition games.

All new referees must complete the following training:

  1. The on-line Laws of the Game (LOTG) Certificate
  2. Attend a full day training course 20th or 28th February
  3. Attend a 3-hour practical course (21st or 29th March, venue TBC).

The MWFRA are looking for junior referees who will be available on a regular basis for all 21 weeks of the season. It is expected that you will be available for at least 2 shifts per week (a shift is Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning) not including the times when you are playing. We particularly need first year junior referees who will also be available on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons to be appointed as Assistant Referees on senior games as well as for centre referee appointments on Saturday and Sunday mornings

The cost to complete the Level 4 Referee Course is $250 and this included the course ($100 payable to FNSW), plus registration and your uniform (2 shirts, shorts, socks, flag, notebook, whistle, and cards) which is payable to the MWFRA via PlayFootball prior to attending the course.

In order to provide appropriate instruction and mentoring we limit the number of junior referees that we train so unfortunately not everyone that applies will be offered a place in the training program. To be considered for this training you must complete the following:

  • Complete the on-line LOTG certificate at Laws of the Game | Play Football. You will need to create an account and it may take you a few hours to complete. Once done, please download the Certificate as a .pdf. When creating the account please use your name and ignore the request for the applicant to be over 16 years of age.
  • Complete the on-line application form at http://mwfra.org.au/courses/entry/juniors/app/ and upload your LOTG Certificate.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one application per person will be accepted and it must have the LOTG certificate attached. Please do not complete the application form without first having completed and downloaded a 2021 LOTG Certificate. LOTG Certificates completed at any date prior to 2021 will not be accepted and your application will be rejected.

All complete applications will be considered by the MWFRA committee after the closing date of the 11th February. You will be notified regarding your application by 15th February.

MWFRA Team Referee Courses

As part of the MWFA’s requirements, all senior men’s teams AL2’s and below, O35 and O45 must provide 2 qualified referees. To do this you can undertake a course with the MWFRA. In addition to meeting the MWFA requirements, as a team referee you also get the opportunity to improve the standard of local football, improve your fitness, and get paid. The MWFA pays all the fees associated with becoming a team referee for up to two people per team.

Register for one of the following courses.
